Ordnance & Ballistics

The Ordnance and Ballistics Technology Working Group (OBTWG) is a subset of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) sponsored DOD Ordnance and Technology Consortium (DOTC), and the National Armaments Consortium (NAC). Its objective is to foster technical collaborations and coordination between the NAC and the Department of Defense (DOD). Other government agencies, such as the DoE, CIA, FBI, and DHS, are invited to participate toward the goal of transitioning higher performance and more cost-effective weapons to the U.S. warfighter focusing on ordnance and ballistic technologies.

The OBTWG includes any government or industry participant at the annual working group technical meeting that will:

  • Organize a limited distribution U.S. Government-Industry meeting for the exchange of technical data related to conventional ordnance and ballistics. In general, this technical meeting will be held annually, or as needed, at the SECRET/NO FOREIGN level.
  • Recognize current U.S. technical leaders in the field.
  • Encourage and develop the next generation of weapon engineers and scientists.
